INTRODUCTION

About Me

I am David Rivinus, author of the book Always Dreaming, now in its second edition.

I have been helping people interpret their dreams since I began studying the phenomenon of dreaming while still in college, back in the late 1960s. Along the way I discovered that the dreaming process does not stop when we wake up in the morning. This was a revelation to me, and now, a revelation to hundreds of other dreamers with whom I have worked. It is astonishing to know that one can interpret the unusual—at times uncomfortable—events of our waking lives as if they were dreams.

THE BOOK: ALWAYS DREAMING

When I had worked with this concept enough to feel confident about its consistency—indeed, universality—I wrote the book Always Dreaming to document my findings and offer techniques to anyone interested.

When the book was first published in 2015, it led to a series of media engagements, plus classes, workshops—both in the U. S. and overseas—magazine articles, appearances online and radio interviews. It was an exciting decade for me!

MY CURRENT WORK

Then COVID reared its destructive head, and things seemed to slow to a crawl. But only for a time. Now, I have gone back and rewritten Always Dreaming, updating it with some more recent discoveries about the phenomenon of dreaming.

I am a decade older; less interested in setting the world on fire, but still excited to help dreamers who would like a better understanding of this peculiar, at times perplexing, but always inspiring phenomenon.

At my home on the central Oregon coast, I work in person, teaching classes and hosting a monthly dream group. I also offer Zoom sessions for anyone interested who happens to be further afield. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions.

UPCOMING EVENTS

What’s Coming Up…

Currently, there are two 10-week courses on the schedule. Both will take place in Newport. The first will begin in October of 2025, and the second will start after the first of the new year. Classes are two hours long, and there is a great deal of interaction among participants—like a workshop. That means that class sizes are small, limited to 8 participants. The total cost for either course is $80, including the price of the book Always Dreaming which we will use and refer to.

Both the October and the 2026 courses are full. But there will be more in the future. If you are interested, please email me at the link on this website, and I can keep you updated as other opportunities come up.

In Yachats, there is also a free monthly group meeting for anyone interested in discussing dreams. Contact me if you are interested.

THIS IS A SERVICE

I am not interested in a profit for myself. These days, I offer my time and knowledge mostly because I think understanding dreams is so helpful for people. The 233-page book sells for $9.99—the Kindle version is $2.99. For a private Zoom session, I charge the nominal fee of $40.
